FAQ
Most projects fall into these ranges (cabinetry only):
Small reach-ins: $4k–$10k
Typical walk-ins: $10k–$25k
Large/premium builds: $25k–$50k+
Price varies with layout complexity, finishes (e.g., rift white oak vs. paint-grade), hardware, interior accessories, and site conditions, and building rules. Most clients land between $10k–$25k for a standard walk-in.
Design & engineering: 1–3 weeks.
Fabrication & finish: 3–6 weeks. Install: 1–3 days (scope-dependent).
Total estimated timeline: ~4–9 weeks from design kickoff to install, plus 1–3 install days.
We’ll give you a clear schedule at sign-off. GC coordination, site readiness, buildings with elevator windows, and HOA rules can affect timing.
Custom: exact fit to older LA walls/floors, premium materials, integrated details, longest lifecycle.
Modular: faster, lower cost, limited sizes/finishes.
If you need a tailored look and maximum storage in quirky spaces, custom wins. If timeline/budget lead, modular can be a smart move.
Start with function (what you store), measure the space, and think door type (sliding vs hinged) for tight LA bedrooms/hallways.
Align on style, maintenance, and ventilation. We’ll guide finishes, layouts, lighting, and long-term durability.
Wardrobes benefit from woods that balance stability, breathability, and finish durability.
Rift/quarter-sawn white oak resists warping in coastal humidity and has a clean, modern grain.
Walnut offers a rich tone, good stability, and elevates luxury wardrobes.
Hard maple (paint-grade or clear) provides a smooth, even surface.
Cedar, used selectively, is great for drawer bottoms or closet lining because it naturally repels moths and odors.
We often pair veneered plywood cores (for stability and lighter weight) with solid-wood edges and low-VOC finishes that won’t off-gas into clothes.
Yes—UMPA installs directly or coordinates with your GC. We handle delivery, leveling, scribing to walls/floors, door tuning, and provide site-readiness guidelines so install is clean and quick.
Not required. UMPA is architect-led and can take you from concept to install. Already working with a designer/architect? We collaborate—shared drawings, approvals, and site coordination keep things moving.
We work across Greater Los Angeles and select Southern California projects (Westside, Eastside, Valley, South Bay, coastal).
